These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the SLAET school management platform. By creating an account, accessing, or using SLAET, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SLAET.
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you (or the school you represent) and SLAET. If you are using SLAET on behalf of a school, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that school to these Terms, and references to "you" in these Terms include both you and the school.
2. Description of service
SLAET is a software platform that helps Nigerian schools manage their administrative and academic operations. SLAET includes modules for student records, results and report cards, attendance, fee management, admissions, communications, payroll, and related functions. The specific features available to your school depend on the subscription tier you select.
We may add, modify, or remove features over time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes to the service.
3. Account registration and security
To use SLAET, your school must register an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration.
- Keep your account information up to date.
- Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify SLAET promptly of any unauthorized access or security concern.
You are responsible for the actions of users you invite to your school's account, including staff, teachers, and administrators.
4. Subscription plans and payment
SLAET offers several subscription plans, including Starter (free), Growth, School, and Campus. Current pricing, features, and limits are published on our pricing page.
Paid subscriptions are billed in Naira through Paystack. Monthly plans bill every month. Annual plans bill every twelve months and save two months compared to monthly pricing. Renewals are automatic unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance. If you do not accept a new price, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.
Failed payments will be retried for a reasonable period. If payment cannot be collected, we may suspend your access until the balance is settled.
5. Free tier and Legacy Program
The Starter tier is free for schools with up to 100 students. It includes core features and is intended to remain free indefinitely, subject to reasonable usage.
The Legacy Program offers free access to the full SLAET platform for qualifying nonprofit and mission schools in Nigeria. Eligibility and application details are on our Legacy Program page. SLAET reserves the right to verify eligibility and to terminate Legacy access if a school no longer meets the program criteria.
6. Your content and data ownership
Your school owns the data it enters into SLAET. This includes student records, academic results, fee records, staff information, parent communications, and all other content created by or on behalf of your school.
By using SLAET, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your school's data for any other purpose, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own use.
You can export your data at any time. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, subject to any legal retention requirements. See our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use SLAET to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person.
- Send spam, phishing messages, or other unauthorized communications to parents, staff, or any third party.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other schools' accounts or to SLAET's systems.
- Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code into the platform.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of SLAET.
- Resell or sublicense access to SLAET to any third party without written permission.
- Use SLAET in a way that could harm, disable, or impair the service for other users.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.
8. Intellectual property
SLAET retains all intellectual property rights in the platform, including software, design, branding, trademarks, and documentation. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of these rights to you.
You may use SLAET only for your school's legitimate administrative and educational purposes, within the scope of your subscription. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the platform.
Feedback you provide to SLAET about the platform may be used by us to improve the service, without compensation or attribution to you.
9. Suspension and termination
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@getslaet.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
SLAET may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if your payment fails, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where possible, we will notify you before termination and give you a reasonable opportunity to address the issue.
Upon termination, you will lose access to your account. You may export your data during a reasonable grace period before deletion. See Section 6 and our Privacy Policy for data retention details.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
SLAET is provided "as is" and "as available." We make reasonable efforts to keep the platform running reliably, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security incidents.
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SLAET's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the platform is limited to the amount you have paid to SLAET in the twelve months preceding the claim, or 100,000 Naira, whichever is greater.
SLAET is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of revenue, loss of data (beyond our obligation to maintain reasonable backups), or loss of goodwill.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SLAET, its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, loss, or damage arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any applicable law.
- Your school's content, data, or communications processed through the platform.
- Your school's relationships with staff, students, parents, or third parties.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the platform before they take effect.
Your continued use of SLAET after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the changes. If you do not accept them, you should stop using SLAET and cancel your subscription before the effective date.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or your use of SLAET will be resolved in the courts of Nigeria.
Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@getslaet.com and make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter directly.
